Tolerance & InTolerance
It’s the 30th anniversary of Professor Shimon Sakaguchi’s seminal publication on regulatory T cells, and he’s going to kick off the celebration of his brilliant career at the Tregs as Medicine: Tolerance and InTolerance Seminar. Speakers Alessandra Franco, MD PhD (San Diego), Laura Santambrogio, MD PhD (New York), Olaf Rötzschke, PhD, (Singapore), Piotr Trzonkowski, MD, PhD (Gdansk) and Pedro Reche PhD (Madrid) will provide their perspectives on the role of Tregs in autoimmunity, cancer and infectious diseases.

Human Intelligence Meets AI
Learn all about it! The Artificial Intelligence / Human Intelligence Workshop will take place June 5-6 in Providence, RI. Day 1 will showcase applications of AI/ML in biologics, transplant and vaccines, as well as “AI policing itself”. Day 2 of the seminar will be a “Tools Showcase”, where ISPRI and other tools (such as 3D modeling) will be demonstrated by experts. It’s Free!
The “Platinum Standard” Vaccine
The recently announced $500 million dollar “Gold Standard” vaccine is what we have always called a “shake and bake” vaccine (inactivated whole virus composed of multiple pathogens). Several different groups have been there and done that! (See: Sinovac and CoVAXIN for example) … and it didn’t work very well. Don’t just take my word for it, see this podcast (timestamp 8 minutes), or go to Science for their opinion. (BTW, “appalling” is a word that is used in this article). If we recover from this body slam to vaccine science, may we suggest that the new “Platinum Standard”, a.k.a T cell epitope driven vaccines, would be way better.
