The Birds are Coming

It’s happening now! … and it’s truly amazing. Millions of birds are flying over our heads every night during the spring migration period. See who and what is flying in your area at “BirdCast”We, mere humans, should be humbled. Protect these fragile beauties from dangerous windows (with decals) and feed them as they fly past you! Get the Merlin app if you want to identify them. Me, I’m battling the squirrels …. who love bird seed!

It’s Personal (Immunogenicity)

Immunogenicity is personal – as in, determined by your individual immune system (and the HLA that your parents gave you). That’s the story I shared with participants at the EIP Symposium on Immunogenicity of Biopharmaceuticals (Lisbon, April 22-24) last week, write me (for the slides). I can help you determine your individual risk of immunogenicity for a range of drugs to treat rheumatoid arthritis!

On that topic, we are thrilled to announce the publication Individual and population-level variability in HLA-DR associated immunogenicity risk of biologics used for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis was accepted to Frontiers in Immunology. This was the brainchild of Dr. Naonobu Sugiyama, who is first author, and his team at Pfizer Japan. Long story short, we identify significant differences in the potential risk of immunogenicity both for individuals (who are treated with RA drugs) and populations (here we looked at Asian vs. Caucasian/European HLA DR alleles). It’s personal!

Trust the Experts

What do you do, when you need really good advice? Trust the experts! EpiVax’s ISPRI toolkit for immunogenicity risk assessment is the result of 25 years of experience in the field. Want more information? We’ve just published a detailed description of the updated ISPRI Toolkit in mAbs and the article is open access. Now you can read all about the innovative new features that our competitors will be busy … copying (imitation is… flattery, I guess). We share new features and relevant case studies that illustrate the importance of de-risking your biologics pipeline. We’ll be doing a public demo of the tools at the AI/HI workshop too! Sign up (here).

Register Now to Attend AI/HI

Come join the party! Are you an ISPRI user? Or just curious? Come to the ISPRI User Workshop!

Our invited speakers will describe tools used for the exploration of immune responses and provide case studies related to biologic drugs and vaccines. Day one will cover the impact of AI and Human Intelligence (HI) on vaccine development and predicting immune responses. Day two explores AI/HI’s role in biologic therapeutics, addressing biologics failures, high-throughput screening, and personalized medicine.

Luminaries from the Broad Institute at MIT, Brown University, BU Medical Center, University of Rhode Island, and the region who are working at the AI/HI interface will be there. Join us!

(No cost, but the number of seats is limited)

Epi-Party Alert!

Are you attending BIO International in June? And/or, are you located in the San Diego area? Join us at our BIO reception, Tuesday, June 4th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Malibu Farm Pond Room in beautiful Seaport!

Put your name down here to reserve your spot, this one might fill up quickly. We hope you can make it! 🥳
